About Us
The Georgia College Nudge Unit is a student driven organization applying behavioral economic principles to solve problems for rural businesses in Middle Georgia. In exchange for tailored, empirically supported solutions, we only ask for the experience of exercising our classroom knowledge in the real world.

The Problem
Across the country, rural communities are burdened with the growing geographic disparities between small towns and big cities. As hospitals foreclose, businesses struggle, and young talent flees, millions of people in these communities increasingly slip into poverty and lose access to opportunities for a better life. This pattern holds true in rural Georgia where the poverty rate is 6.4% higher than urban areas. One cause of this inequality is the physical and financial difficulty for businesses to access expert help so far away from Atlanta. That’s where we come in.

As students living in Middle Georgia, we see the impact of these disparities first-hand and want to help our communities thrive by volunteering our time and knowledge to local businesses and non-profit organizations. Our expertise in applied behavioral economics can nudge back the costly effects of poor decisions and behavior at little to no cost to the business. The cost effective nudges we build allow every dollar saved to be reinvested back into the communities and people of Middle Georgia.
